New Inland Highway From Cabo San Lucas to San Jose

New connections to bring new opportunities



Los Cabos area is still growing at a fast pace and Highway 1 currently serves all traffic from Cabo San Lucas to San Jose.

SCT (Secretaria de Comunicaciones y Transportes), Ministry of Transport and Communications planned a new highway connecting both towns on the mountain side. Construction started on Dec. 11th, 2011 and it's estimated to finish on April 2015. Check back for on-going updates (this article will be updated only with official information).

The new inland highway runs from San Jose del Cabo to North Cabo San Lucas, a total of 30 kilometers (18 miles) that will be connecting with Highway 1 with to Cabo Real and El Mangle.

 

 

This project is designed to boost commercial and tourism industry in Los Cabos area, the high-end destination in all Mexico.

Easy and quick access to residential areas on the Pacific side (North
Cabo San Lucas/Todos Santos)
Reduces heavy truck traffic and noise pollution on Highway 1 (a scenic drive)
