In the early hours of October 8th an earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale struck below El Dorado, 121 km from Sinaloa. The quake was estimated by seismologists to be 10km below the surface and tremors could have been felt in the Los Cabos region. No tsunami is expected and no alert has been issued.
Earthquakes do happen in the area and the last one occurred right in the middle of Hurricane Odile when a 4.2 magnitude quake struck in the same region.
No damage is expected from this seismic event.
