Remember the storm caused by the world’s most expensive $25, 0000 taco? Sold by Grand Velas in Cabo? Everybody thought it was a joke. But it wasn’t.
Well guess what – Grand Velas have agreed to donate a plate of the exquisite gold flaked morsels in a raffled event to raise money for Los Cabos Children’s Foundation.
At a mere 60 dollars per ticket – this could be the perfect tasting opportunity. And with extra raffle ticket a paltry $30 more, what have you got to lose?
And the taste of this tantalising taco is all down to the culinary imagination of Grand Velas executive chef, Licerio Alcala. Who has filled the “gold flake–infused soft corn tortilla with Kobe beef, lobster, black truffle brie cheese, and, of course, Almas Beluga caviar.”
It’s then topped with Morita peppers, enormously expensive Añejo tequila, and kopi luwak coffee. Sound tempting? Perhaps even more tempting, is the ridiculously expensive glass of $3.5 million Tequila Ley Diamante .925 that is also thrown in.

It promises to be a fun event, for a good cause. Rumour has it that the taco may go for even more than the original $25,000 “sticker price “– raising huge amounts for the Los Cabos Children Foundation.
And just so you have all the finer details …. At the time of the actual draw, the taco and the giant bottle of tequila (handmade of pure platinum, with diamonds, and weighing almost 8kg) will be paraded around the Grand Velas ballroom on a velvet pillow. Surrounded, of course, by numerous security guards.!
