Off-Road in Baja is Growing And We Have More Races to Come This 2013

Round one of the three part off road Baja California races of the 2013 SCORE Desert Series, officially ended its two days of competition March 10th. The 253 mile contest over rough, desert terrain, was held in San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico with a total of 177 finishers from 12 countries around the globe. The United States of America was represented by competitors from 23 of their 50 states. This 27th annual race is internationally known as the MasterCraft Safety Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250 and features off road races in several categories beginning with Pro Cars and Trucks; which in itself has 18 divisions. In the trophy truck contest, Gus Vildasola and his son Gus Vildasola Jr of Mexicali, Mexico, claimed first prize on board their Ford Raptor that covered the course in 4 hours 13 minutes and 39 seconds. Bryce Menzies (Las Vegas, Nevada) and Jesse Jones (Phoenix, Arizona) were second in 4:18:09 in their Ford-F150. The Vildasolas are the most prominent desert racing team in all of Mexico. The other 17 class divisions range from unlimited single and two-seat vehicles that storm through the desert terrain averaging anywhere from 58-60 miles...
