Hurricane Norbert Approaches

Date Published:
Cabo weather - hurricane season

Tropical Storm Norbert Will Become a Hurricane Today

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) reports that Tropical Storm Norbert will become Hurricane Norbert this evening. The storm is expected to strengthen over the next 36 hours and pass within 100 miles of Cabo San Lucas.

Norbert should reach at least Category One hurricane status. the NHC forecast indicates Norbert will encounter wind shear conditions that may prevent it from getting much stronger. However, should these wind shear conditions decrease, Norbert may strengthen even further.

Regardless of the strength of the storm, the proximity to Cabo San Lucas indicates that Cabo is likely to receive heavy rains and large swells. Los Cabos and the southern Baja Peninsula have been put under a Tropical Storm Warning, meaning that tropical storm force winds are expected.

Updates will be posted as the come available.
