Hurricane Dora no land threat to Cabo

Date Published:

As predicted Dora starts to weaken, but swells swells could cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions along BCS coast...

Fortunately, Hurricane Dora seems to be doing exactly as predicted – weakening. And posing no major land threats to Cabo.

At 0300 hours this morning it was about 460km off the coast of Baja California. And is currently moving west/northwest at approx. 19kn/hr. – although a decrease in forward speed is forecast throughout the day.

Dora is expected to remain well south of the Baja California peninsula. However. swells are expected to spread northwestward and begin affecting portions of the coast today through Wednesday.  These swells could cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions. So please remain vigilant, and take extra special care if you are on the beach.

The storm is expected to weaken and move westwards by Thursday.

We will be back with further updates throughout the day.
