How to Go Organic in Los Cabos

As more and more people begin to examine what goes into their bodies, it seems the organic food movement will only grow stronger. Cabo already boasts many organic options. This includes organic restaurants, but there are also many options that make for a great daytime activity while vacationing in Cabo, from organic farm tours to family friendly farmers markets. The Baja Sur Peninsula is a desert region, but one that is full of surprises. Water flows down from natural sources in the steep mountains that dominate the center of the peninsula, bringing life to acres and acres of organic farms. Some can be found in Las Animas just beyond the Puerto Los Cabos marina. Even more are found in Miraflores or Santiago, two small towns east of San Jose via Highway 1. One of these farms, Huerta Villa del Carmen in Miraflores, will be hosting this year's Sabor a Cabo Rural food festival on November 24, 2013. The small town of Pescadero on Highway 19, as well as Todos Santos five minutes to its north provide much of the produce sold in Los Cabos. Many of these farms are organic, but they are not simply part of a new trend. They have always been organic, and were often passed down this way from one generation to the next...
