Los Cabos Half Marathon: Why Are There So Many Races Nowadays?

Date Published:
I can recall a few competitive races in Cabo over the years. Every once in a rare while the local police would partially close the highway and a handful of number-clad racers would slow down traffic on the fourlane. It seems that happened once every couple of years, but if you weren’t out and about on the morning of the race, you likely never even noticed. Nowadays it seems that every few months there is another race, and these races attract more and more runners each time. Now not only is Cabo an attractive place to spend a week lounging on the beach, fishing or partying, but it has become a big draw for competitive racers. Last year boasted by far the most impressive list of events to date, as Los Cabos hosted its first Ironman Triathlon in March, the 4th Los Cabos half marathon in April, 15K/8K/5K races in November and another half marathon sponsored by the municipality later that same month. 2014 picks up right where 2013 left off as San Jose del Cabo hosts the Los Cabos Half Marathon on Feb 9th.
