Varying computer models indicate that the current storm's path is far from certain.
Large Storm Forming in the Pacific Off Mexico's Southwest Coast
According to the National Hurricane Center, the storm forming off the southwest coast of Mexico is large but unorganized. However, they predict an 80% chance that the storm will become a tropical cyclone formation (Tropical Depression, Tropical Storm or Hurricane) within 5 days.
Some reports on the internet indicate that it is headed directly for the Baja peninsula and Cabo San Lucas. However, it is too early to be certain that the storm will affect Los Cabos. Based on current information from 10 different computer models, only one indicates that it will make landfall on the Baja peninsula. The storm may move out to sea as most of the storms have done so far this season.
If the storm does organize into a tropical storm or hurricane, there is a significant chance that it could affect Los Cabos. Although the Category 5 Hurricane Marie did not have much affect on Los Cabos last week, other than causing the closure of marinas and beaches for a few days due to large swells and dangerous currents, that doesn't mean this storm will take the same track. If a storm of that size were to hit Cabo directly, the effects of heavy rains and winds would be significant.
