Redrum Cabo Fishing Report Feb 1st

Date Published:

Fishing is still on fire out there right now my friends!! Plenty of Dorado to be had and it is just not slowing down! We did have a few rainy days in Cabo the beginning of the week and lots of wind on Monday, so all the boats we had booked opted to move their charters to other days in the week. Tae Choi and his group fished out on 196′s Toy on Tuesday. We told them there was no sightings of Yellowfin Tuna out there, but they still wanted to make the long journey and see what they came up with. They did not find any Yellowfin out there, but, rather, something rather unexpected for this time of year!! They reeled in a Blue Marlin estimated at over 250lbs. That was unexpected and a great catch for the day! Our friends Cindy and Tom Ruma went out with some friends on Tantrum for a 1/2 day. They caught 2 Dorado and a nice sized Wahoo! Robert and Shelley Loos had a great day on RedRum, catching well over their limit in Dorado, they released 4, boated 4. Pat and Charlie McKenna along with buddy Chester Pickens slayed it out there on ReelRum. Thay caught 6 Dorado, a Wahoo and a SkipJack. Wednesday was just as good with Daniel LeQuere and Cheryl fishing for a 1/2 day off Tantrum. They caught 4 Dorado and released 1 more. Bill Brisbois and crew fished on 2 boats for their first day of fishing, El Nuevo and 19′s Toy. They caught a total of 10 Dorado, a Wahoo and 2 SkipJack. On Friday, they were back at it and boated 5 more Dorado. Don Snyder fished for 2 days on ReelRum, Wednesday and Friday. He had a great time catching a total of 7 Dorado. Derek Olsen had a banner day on board Tantrum Thursday reeling in a 9ft Striped Marlin that was in the 160lb weight range. He also boated a Wahoo – lost 2 more. Fred Runde and his crew enjoyed their 1/2 day on El Nuevo Thursaday, they caught a Dorado and a SKipJAck, but were a little disappointed, the little man did not catch a fish, perhaps next time!! Dough McComb and buddies fished on 19′s Toy for a full day Thursday and boated 2 Dorado. Bruce Billings was back with us this year along with Bruce Frampton. Thursday they spent most of the day looking for Marlin, which they had no luck at, but did catch a nice Dorado. Friday, they reeled in a Striped Marlin, boated a Dorado and released a Skipjack. Rob Denny went at it solo on board Tantrum for 2 days. He fared well, catching a total of 5 Dorado and releasing a Striped Marlin. Evan Warner and Angie Valdez fished on ReelRum for the day, boated 2 DOrado, one so big that they had a trophy made!! We had a big group down from Canada, Real Estate agents apparently on an incentive trip (where do I apply?? LOL) went out on 4 different boats. In all, they caught 11 Dorado, 1 Wahoo and a couple of SkipJAck. Great job guys!
