Saturday,
April 30th: The
Marlin bite picked up today as we released 5 with a couple of our boats
releasing more than 1. Our good buddy Dean Beech chartered a couple of boats today.
Team 1 decided to stay inshore and they were able to catch loads of
Cabrilla (SeaBass) as well as a couple of nice Snapper. Team 2 was “going
for broke” and headed out for the Marlin, Tuna and Dorado hunt, no luck there.
The Schaefer Group from the Victoria, TX Coastal
Conservation Association fished their 2nd day with us and had an awesome time
reeling in 2 Striped Marlin and a Thresher Shark, all released. Mark Tucker and his buddy also released a Striped
Marlin and got another Thresher Shark as close to the boat as they wanted
before cutting the line loose! Don and Ray Jablonski fished on TopGun and released another
pair of Stripe Marlin with Captain Jorge to round out our day.
Sunday,
May 1st: As we
closed our April we are hoping that our May bite kicks up a notch and that our
anglers get locked into some nice fish all month long! We started with a
couple of Marlin released on our half-day charters with the Daniel’s and the Utecht’s fishing
on TantRum and RumRunnin. The Daniel’s also
caught a Yellowfin!
Monday,
May 2nd: Day 2
of the month and the Ellis’ fishing on TopGun landed a nice Wahoo!
Wahoo seem to be hitting on the Sea of Cortez side extremely early in
the morning. Monday was a little slower as Top Gun and our 28′ boats were
the only boats that headed out today. TantRum and ReelRum had a tough
time finding the fish.
Tuesday, May
3rd: Pete and Julie Rodriguez will be fishing 2 days with Alex and El Nuevo
this week. They are on their honeymoon
from Anaheim, CA. and we are lucky to be spending a little time with this cool
couple! Today they caught and released a
Striped Marlin and will be heading out looking for some more action on the
7th! James Fraley scheduled 2 days on
RumRunnin and fished with Captain Ramon (Bobo) and Christian. The team landed 2 Striped Marlin on their
first outing and plan on doing a little “small game” fishing on the 5th.
Wednesday,
May 4th: Another big Wahoo was caught this morning by Captain Juan on
TantRum. Ron Roberson and his group hit
the ‘Ono early in the morning and finished their day off catching Snapper and
Grouper! What a great day! The Hargrove’s fishing on ReelRum released a
Thresher Shark while the Smith’s and the Lawrence Groups fishing on RumRunnin
and 19’s Toy both released a Stripe Marlin.
Thursday,
May 5th: James Fraley spent his 2nd day on the water with Captain Ramon (Bobo)
and Christian catching inshore fish. The
team gathered multiple Trigger Fish, a nice Grouper and a couple of Snapper!
Mike Caldow and first time angler lady Katherine Ryan fished on TantRum and
Captain Juan did his best to put Katherine on her first Billfish! Sure enough, they released a Striped Marlin
at about noon! Matt Towner and Megan
Tafoya fished on ReelRum and had a
killer time catching Snapper, Grouper and Trigger Fish as well!
Friday, May
6th: Jason Tidd and Brandi Kriegshauser headed out with Captain Juan for a
half-day charter on TantRum and although they spotted a tailing Marlin they
weren’t able to convince it to take the live bait that Humberto pitched to
it! Looks like they may be heading out
for another half-day tomorrow so stay tuned!
