JC Sportfishing Cabo Fishing Report October 19th

Date Published:

WEATHER: Hot and Hot is the way it is in Cabo over the last week. We did get some good rain at the first part of the week and so did most of southern Baja. It is cooling down some but it slow in happening but winter is coming and we do expect good fishing.

WATER: Well the water has been cooling down some and we expect it to continue to cool over the next few days. It has had a effect on the fishing it seems when the water cools some we are seeing more action.

BILLFISH: The Marlin fishing is still really good and with the tournaments here we are still landing lots of Billfish. Our own Bob Marlin has done great in the tournament landing 9 Marlin, 3 Sailfish and some Wahoo to place in the Billfish Tournament and we won $20,000 in prize money. The bite has definitely been on so we are really happy with the tournament results and look forward to the tournaments coming up in the next 2 weeks. The San Jamie Banks has seen good action and also from the Light House to Rancho Migrino has been good for all species of Billfish. The Golden Gate has also been a good area for fishing about 2 miles offshore has been good.

DORADO: The Dorado fishing is so so and not as hot as it was last week. We were landing them on lures and ballyhoo. It has really slowed down this past week with a few small ones being landed. Water was to warm and now it is getting cooler and expect the Dorado fishing to pick up soon.

TUNA: The Tuna are back and there are quite a few football size fish being landed and also a few large ones also being caught. For example a 180lb Tuna was landed and a couple other big ones.

INSHORE: Small Tuna and Sailfish have been good inshore. The inshore fishing has remained spotty at best a few Marlin have been taken on some of the Pangas from Solmar to the Light House has been good. The Rooster fishing should start to pick up soon as there has been a few nice ones taken this week in the 25lbs range on live bait it is just really a little early for them right now. We should start to see the big ones roll in in 2 to 3 weeks.

WAHOO: There are still some Wahoo around and they were being caught on jet heads. There has been a few Wahoo caught this past week with warmer water temperatures in the area.
